NAWIC HistoryThe National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) was founded in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1955. Since its founding, NAWIC has grown to a membership of 5,900 with 200 chapters across the United States and parts of Canada. Since the mid 1990s, NAWIC has gained international affiliates in four countries; NAWIC-Australia, NAWIC-New Zealand, SAWiC-South African Women in Construction, and NAWIC-United Kingdom, and seen its members travel to such countries as China, Kosovo and South Africa to extend NAWIC’s core purpose beyond the North American continent. In its 50 years of service to its membership, NAWIC has advanced the causes of all women in construction whose careers range from business ownership to the skilled trades.

Core Values: Promoting EducationNAWIC’s commitment to education and skilled training can be seen in a variety of areas. For more than 20 years, the NAWIC Education Foundation has offered creative and educational programs for students from the grade school to high school level. The Foundation sponsors award-winning education programs including Block Kids and the CAD/Design/Drafting Competitions.
